Nice article, but there's no mention of getting married at Pemaquid Point Lighthouse, the lighthosue that's depicted on the state quarter. It's a very popular spot for weddings, sometimes with 4 or more taking place on a Saturday, and there are many nice venues for receptions in the immediate area.

For the outdoors-type couple a great place for a wedding is also Acadia National Park. You will have to pay a permit application fee of $50, and there are certain restrictions. Yes, you'll have to hire an officiant, but it's sure an inexpensive way to get married on the island that always is included on Travel + Leisure and Conde' Nast "best of" lists.

If the park doesn't fit in your plans, but you want to get married on Mount Desert Island, I'd recommend getting away from Bar Harbor and travel 20 minutes away to Southwest Harbor. The Claremont Hotel is a great choice for a wedding location.

Hi, I couldn't find a place to email your site, so I'm hoping you'll check your comments and get my message here. My name is Nora and I'm a publicity assistant at Soft Skull Press. I'm writing to tell you about a book we're publishing called Waterbaby, which comes out in late October. It's about a woman, Tam, who goes to Maine to reconnect with her family history. She comes from a family of lighthouse-keepers, and their lighthouse plays a large role in the story, nearly becoming a character itself as it draws Tam into her past and shelters and helps her. If you'd be interested in a free advance copy, send back an email with your mailing address, and we'll get one to you as soon as we can.

Thanks for your time,
Nora Nussbaum

BEWARE: Ashley Rader at www.momentsofelegance.com is running an unscrupulous business where she preys on BRIDES and PARTY PLANNERS!

I ordered a large order from her and was totally ripped off. She charged my VISA a higher amount than what my order chares where, and even placed charges long after my orders where placed.

I found charges on my VISA card by her that I did not authorize.

When I tried to contact her, she would not acknowledge the charges. I had to dispute the charges on my VISA card to get it all resolved.

www.momentsofelegance.com is a sham! The site looks great, but beware! She will make erroneous hidden shipping fees and charges that you will have to argue.

I am a professional party planner and have worked with many vendors over the years. I have never seen the cheating practices this company engages in. Ebay has even more honest places to buy from than this place.

I RECOMMEND THAT YOU GOOGLE AND LOOK FOR THE SAME ITEMS ELSEWHERE!
